Yea sucka! went on a Def solo mission this evening. Bajeebas cruisin at Charm City as has been my habit for the past several Tuesdays. Hadn't ridden there in about a year and a half then peeped their new bowl on YouTube and knew the s#!t was on. The coping on that bowl takes a little getting used to because it is raised up way high. It's like two inches above flat on top. Plus it is a smidgeon chewy from the bikers and their friggin pegs, but hey, not to fear, rippin in full gear.
I must admit that I am impressed with the park. It used to seem in a continual state of dissarray. Some ramp was always coming up or goin down, but now it is all pretty solid. Truly a skate wonderland. Good work Jason! Today everyone must've gone outside because there were several moments where I was the only one riding which has never been the case, especially in the evening. So it was good to get my skate on in true Bajeebas fashion. Because my ankles have been taking a beating the past few weeks I stuck to more zen approach. Just riding and not feeling the urge to put any tweeked out maneuvers. Carving the bowl, workin on the simple feeling of locking in to the coping on basic axl stalls.
Today was a good one for the mind. In the peace and quiet of a desolate park I was able to contemplate the subtleties of skateing. I analyzed the ankle to knee to hip relationship. How these sections of your legs work together in different fashions for different trisks. It was also my goal to explore riding balanced. That is using both legs equally. That being said I rode switch alot. Not anything too fancy. Kickturns on the tranny, switch rockers, and floating the pyramids backwards. Very good for the mind. Also nice way to undo certain developed patterns. I think in a lot of way one can get stuck doing what their good at without exploring other means that would improve their overall game.
A bit of comedy. I figured I had the park all to myself. Little did I know that some mommy had brought several kids who decided to play tag/hide and seek in the park. which, is a very good idea. If I were that age that place would be perfect for a game as such. But anyway I was coasting past and hadto bail when they darted out from behind a wall chasing and screaming your it! Well they were both almost lunch meat. This avoidance of the kids was better than some backflips I have taken to avoid clobbering some snot nose in the flat not paying attention. I am so sacrificial sometimes. I should wipe em out! No, I should school their parents on teaching them proper skate park ettiquite. whatever, one time, many years ago, I layed this kid out flat. His father was standing right there and thought we wuz gonna have some words but he saw the whole thing and knew that his kid wasn't paying attention. That was cool, I hope I didn't give em a concussion. anyway, keep skatin y'all! I'll see you in the pool!
