The Mid Atlantic Skate Series came to a close this past Saturday at Nicolet Park in St. Mary's County. Swami Bajeebas entered three events; Advanced street, 18-39 bowl, and Longboard event. Hot Sauce Everett came to check things out this time. He hadn't intended on competing that day but as he was skating around one of the judges talked him into entering. They put him in the Novice category which was retarded. As soon as he began his run a wave of mutterings went around like WTF? Novice!? So they gave him second place to be courteous to the other contestants.

Yea Nice huck boss!

Here's Half the fun of road trips! We clown like champs on the way to and from the parks!

I, Bajeebas, took 3rd place in he longboard event. I am quite proud of myself because all of the other contestants had boards with kicktails, whereas I was riding a 44 inch pintail.

I will posting some video very soon. I just separated my Youtube accounts so skateboarding will now be found at www.youtube.com/skatebajeebas. Also make sure to check out my new website www.bajeebas.com!

Everett got stoked on trying this 540! He went after it with a vengeance

This is a sweet shot of Tabasco aka Everett doing a sick ally-oop over the hip!

I got a new camera off a kid in the street. Real sweet price (hopefully not stolen) :@ So we got some pics at Greenbelt last week. Unfortunately not much of Bejeebas since I was doing most of the taping.

Bajeebas carving up the big pool! This pool is fun! coping is nice!

This is some random ripper we were skating with that day. I got this shot and thought it was awesome. Nothing but feet!

Tim got gnarly! A little marker of his transition from street skating to bowl riding! This is Everett's brother Tim who wants to be on the team. Keep it up Brother! If you keep risking life and limb you're bound to get some skills!

Tim learned to carve!

This itty bitty M/Fer is me catching air in the deep end at the olney competition. I learned a lot that day

Mike V Glory Bound

Bajeebas went to see Mike V at Charm City last week. It was tubular. Mike and Duane Peters going off hucking some niceness. Since Charm is kinda like a labyrinth with different sections every where I wondered if Duane disappeared to another part, perhaps over where the half pipe is. But I think he just went to the tour bus. Vallely and Svitak kept raging though. The item that got worked the most was wall ride at the far side of the street course. I never saw anyone session that thing so much. Christian had some 5-0's at the top. Mike V did some wall ride to disaster, and wound the night up with a sick boneless 360 from the top. He ate shit about a dozen times trying that trick and finally stuck it. Dudes were gettin raw!!

They featured my run at the MASS competition in Olney on the concrete disciples page. Check out the video at the bottom. I'm at the five minute mark!!

(MASS) Mid Atlantic Skate Series

Ooooh it was a hot day on Saturday! Lots of heat and still lots of stoke! Your ol' pal Bajeebas was even a judge for an event when I wasn't competing myself of course. I've been pumped ever since the event and it is two days later. I may have fractured my hand but I can still play drums and piano so there is no need to go to the hospital. I just can't put a lot of pressure on it. the bottom corner aches like a sumanumbeeotch!

SO! I had the honor of judging the 40+ category of pool skating which was insane! It was really hard to judge such legends as Mike Mapp, Bob Pribble, Umbel, BOO, and Dan Brown! Boo secured first place with his gnarly forever run in the deep end. Hitting coping back to back with laybacks, tail-blocks, front and backside airs and super power in general. Dan Brown had insane invert variations in the deep-end. Mike Mapp lit the pool on fire and scared little children with his fierce expressions while slashed the F#$K out of the place. Umbel had back to back stand up grinds in all three bowls of the pool, shallow, medium, and deep. Pribble went off grinding the death box, yanking front side airs, slashing, and squeezing out a crazy boneless in the deep-end.

The most notable skater of the day, in my opinion, was Jake Hilbish. At the tender age of 17 this kid placed in the top three of several events of the day. Advanced street, was insane! I thought he blew his knee out in the middle of his run but it was just a severe cramp. Pool for Jake was even more insane! He did lien to tail, big ol' 360, huge airs, stalefish, and grinding everywhere. Jake even pulled a blunt to fakie inside the deathbox! Jake even had the nerve to compete in the longboard event.

Jake should be a pro! And so should you!
Find out how to become a professional skateboarder!!

Bajeebas was in true form during the most intense event of the evening! The last pool competition of the day. Ages 18 - 39. Fueled by Red Bull, Fried chicken, and lots of watermelon I broke the sound barrier as I carved every inch of that monster pool. Taking a pause to ease into a smith stall, heading to the deep - end for mean powerslide ten feet up the wall all the way across the tiles. Floating lofty airs and laying into 50 - 50's the whole way around the shallow faster than I ever did before. I was truckin aso fast in the jam with my DEFSTICK BEARINGS that my body went faster than my board at the end and I pitched straight to the flat. That shook me pretty good. I think this is where I broke my hand, but fortunately, the body is miraculous and heals!

It was a great day! Hopefully the next stop on the tour in St Mary's county won't be 110 mother F#$King degrees!

coming up tomorrow is the Glory Bound Tour with Mike V. Check out the website, and see wher it is coming near your neighborhood. Should be awesome!!

Training in Olney & Warped Tour

OOOO baby!! Bajeebas liking that pool coping!

THE ESSENCE OF GNAR!!!

Got this photo last Saturday when I was skating 'Old Man Session' at the pool in Olney. The thing I like about these sessions is that it is opposite of the norm. One or two people are in the street course and every one is crowded around the pool getting their steez on! So my pads turned out to be a bummer. You would think that any pads that cost $80 would survive two sessions. I bought these effin Pro-tec drop-ins. They looked like they would do the trick. I should have gone with my gut instinct and stick with the 187s. I've ridden 187 for almost ten years and they were bomb. I've ridden these Pro-tecs two times and they ripped on me. They have a cool butterfly flap in the back that makes it so you don't have to take your shoe off to put the pad on. But, unfortunately, it is shoddy construction. the butterfly ripped at the seam and right behind the velcro tore a big hole. I better get a refund!

Thanks to Steph Murdock at Skatepark Of Baltimore I got to skate the mini ramp at Warped Tour! It was awesome! My heart was pounding! The music was deafening! The sun was boiling! The crowds were raging! And Captain Bajeebas of the SS Defstick was rippin! The ramp was perfect. Perfect height and width. When you stood down in the crowd the music didn't seem as loud. I guess because it was muffled by the bodies. But up on top of the ramp the sound from three stages blasted you right in the face. In the Midday sun the metal half pipe turned into a skillet. All aspects of the experience was intense.

Spent some good time raising money for S.O.B. too. We raised nearly $800 dollars that day. It was fun talking to all the people and getting stoopid on the megaphone! I tells ya! Put a megaphone in Bajeebas' hand and you don't know what'll happen! I have a new appreciation for Loud!! Hopefully this leads to greater levels of DEF not deaf. LMAO

Bajeebas @ Charm City

I rode my skateboard last night at Charm City skate park. I spent my time mostly in the bowl but I went over to the spine ramp a few times. I love skating that spine even though I got my worst injury ever on that thing. Broke my ankle so bad my foot was twisted around completely backwards! Nasty! Nauseating! Last night was good though. No serious injuries. I found out some pros are coming around soon!

wanna become a pro? click here!!

Yep! Mike V, Duane Peters, and some other heads are gonna put on a demo in a couple of weeks. Should be dope. I've developed an interest in Mike V over the past couple of months because I am subscribed to his channel on Youtube and he posts some pretty rad stuff very regularly. I know most people just think about him as the dude who gets in fights but I like the way that aggression translates into his skating. Also, probably because he comes from an older batch of riders when skating was gnarly, less tech, more power, just straight rippin!!

So I was cleaning up my frontside grinds around the corners in the bowl. I got some standard frontside airs way out of the hip. When I do those it's like time stands still. Threw a good board-slide into my run and managed to squeeze out a quick foot plant. Everything was perfect until right at the end my board bashed me right in the same spot at the base of my right achilles. It didn't hit me very hard but it hurt like hell so I called it a night. I got in three solid hours of gnarl, so I was happy.

Got some new knee pads!!

Dude!

I just bought some new knee pads and its time to off in the pool. My other ones were good but old and they kept sliding down. Now I got some that aren't going anywhere and I can but a knee slide comfortably with no fear. This means I'm heading for the deep-end!

I'm rolling with Steph Murdock to the Warped tour next week and it should be dope. Gonna get to skate a nice half pipe in front of thousands of people while the freshest punk rock flows through the air. Gonna be moving fast on My Defstick bearings. Helping Steph promote The Skatepark of Baltimore will be good. Hopefully we will raise some good money.

My heel injury has turned out to be only painful. My leg is still functional it just hurts. This is probably the best kind of injury i could want. It doesn't hurt when i skate and I can hit all my tricks. It just hurts like hell when i stop and I have a cute little lump at the base of my achilles. Whatever. I'm rolling. Tonight I go skate at Charm city. I was gonna practice at olney but it is raining. So indoors I go

Jacked up Heel

Defstick Team rider Bajeebas here telling you what's up. Been getting ready for a couple of pool competitions coming. Skated really hard last week which resulted in my heel injury at FDR. I've been able to ride a little bit this week but only flat land cause its been super hot and when I roll it feel like my achilles might pop. Don't want that to happen!! So i been doing the therapy skate. I'm about to get some new kneepads cause the elastic on the ones I have now is worn so every once in a while they sip down on me which really pisses me off. I think I'll stick to the 187's cause they work real nice for vert and pools.

FDR Philadelphia

Bajeebas went on a mission to FDR on Saturday! It has been a while since I went there. Maybe ten years. Since the last time I went they built a new section on the bowl including a huge keyhole and a separate pool. This strongly influences my desire to live in Philly. That park has everything I like to skate. Vert ramp, Mini ramp, an extensive bowl, and a seperate pool. The place is gnarly! I spent most of my visit this time on the vert ramp. There was a pretty good session going so I eagerly joined in. Wanna get more comfortable on really high transition so I can get more deep-end tricks in the pool in the Mid Atlantic Skate Series (MASS). I was rolling fast as hell! Of course I was flying on my Defstick abec 7 bearings! In the middle of the sesh I got the worst snake bite ever! I went into a knee slide after trying some hair brained trick on the vert ramp and my board comes down from like twenty feet in the air and cracks me right at the base of my achilles tendon. It hurt a lot to skate but I kept rolling because I was so pumped. That probably agitated the thing more. Now, two day later it is bruised and swollen. I also have serious decrease in movement. Not to worry! With my supreme yogi jedi skills I should be skating aggressively again in a week tops.

When I skated the key hole I quickly gained applause from some groms who were flicking boogers nearby. When i skated the pool these dudes were starting from the shallow and cleared out. But I guess they didn't realize the magnitude cause they sat on the edge with their legs hanging over. When I had to bail cause they were in the way they said sorry, but didn't move their legs!! WTF. In the middle of the whole session this dude backs in pick-up truck into one of my favorite pockets in the bowl and just parks there. I didn't know what he was doing. I figured he was drunk and didn't know either. So I went back to the Vert ramp. When I came back to the bowl I realized he was patching up some holes in the concrete. So I settled down. Him and some other locals were drinking barley and smoking some questionable cigarettes at the top. They were very friendly and we bullshitted for a few. I finished off the day by taking my lady-friend to the best sushi place in Philly, Morimoto. Then some hip-hop dancing at club Fluid. It's hard to drive home to baltimore at 2 am, after skating all day, dancing, and drinking straight Jameson.

Peace out

What up peeps?

Latest evidence!!

Alright!!! This is Bajeebas here and I am in true form! Its raining like a Mo Fo outside so I'm inside updating this shizzle! Everett dislocated his elbow last week! AAAArgh!!! Wellity well, at least we got some bitchin footy on the halfpipe. Dude, its built right! And so am I with more muscles than your average skater. I ride like an effin tank. 6 foot 2, 210 lbs. solid muscle baby. This is what happens when you quit smoking and take up weight lifting. Now I feel like a pro wrestler. When i skate I can take some hits!

Rad Summer

Oh yea! been doin some shredding this summer! Getting prepared for a sweet Autumn. Should rip even harder then because the humidity drops and I can breath in the afternoon. Defstick crew has been in good form. Only a few injuries as is expected. I, bajeebas, returned from my sick OBX trip with no major injuries. I am very pleased at that. My hand ached for about a month, but it is better now. I ate some serious shit at the Maple Bowl in Currituck. That thing is no joke. Took a hipper while slapping my hand on the concrete so hard I thought it might be broken. It might be! But at least not in a debilitating way.
Got to skate the Cheese Bowl, o
r Wanchese, the last couple days of my stay down there. That was a primary destination and was very pleased to get to skate it. Click here for a video at Wanchese. Here are some stills of the structure that are featured in the video.

Seeing the underside of this mammoth structure was a pure joy. Mark Corbett did a very fine job with this. Thanks dude!! He does a considerable amount of work for Grindline, amking sweet parks, but this one is in his yard.
Would like to get some more time to ride that thing and develop more lines and stuff

On another note! We'll see how much ripping Rob is gonna be able to do, now that he has a baby on the way! Sheesh! Son of a gun is barely twenty years old but he's set on it and seems to really love Shamia. Who knows sometimes having a child can really make good thing happen in someone's life. I know I want kids someday, but I choose to wait for the right moment.

Defstick Skateboard Greenbelt

Add ImageDefstick mission update!

Everett almost got out of this one.  The universe decided he had to ride this monster pool.  After circling back around 295 Tim, Rob, Everett, and I(bajeebas) was on route to Greenbelt.  I had heard some nice things about that pool but was pleasantly surprised even beyond expectation.  Tons of nice lines in that thing.

We ripped, we tore, we slaughtered the place.  And I think that place ripped my miniscus a little too.  Ouchy! Lol!  Nice kidney shaped bowl as well as the pool and some clever banks and such for the olly hoppers.  Everett was in regular form with his airwalks, 360s, air to fakie.  Rob impressed with some foreward flips, bigspins, and doubleflips.  I took some big-boy lines in the pool, grinding like a jackhammer, and slashing some nifty berts in the 10ft deep end.

The most memorable part of the mission was when a local was careening around the top side of the bowl.  Rob was standing at the bottom.  Just as the dude was right behind him, rob suddenly fell backward into the local kid, and by mistake did a backflip judo kick to this kids mouth.  Both of them went sprawling but the local got up spitting blood and there were puddles everywhere.  His girlfriend (who everett was mackin on) told him to beat up Rob which didn't happen.  The whole park was laughing.  Kid went inside, readjusts his braces and everyone was happy.  Headed back to Baltimore and my car smells like vinegar.  There was ravioli waiting for us when we got there.

Solo Bajeebas

Yea sucka! went on a Def solo mission this evening. Bajeebas cruisin at Charm City as has been my habit for the past several Tuesdays. Hadn't ridden there in about a year and a half then peeped their new bowl on YouTube and knew the s#!t was on. The coping on that bowl takes a little getting used to because it is raised up way high. It's like two inches above flat on top. Plus it is a smidgeon chewy from the bikers and their friggin pegs, but hey, not to fear, rippin in full gear.

I must admit that I am impressed with the park. It used to seem in a continual state of dissarray. Some ramp was always coming up or goin down, but now it is all pretty solid. Truly a skate wonderland. Good work Jason! Today everyone must've gone outside because there were several moments where I was the only one riding which has never been the case, especially in the evening. So it was good to get my skate on in true Bajeebas fashion. Because my ankles have been taking a beating the past few weeks I stuck to more zen approach. Just riding and not feeling the urge to put any tweeked out maneuvers. Carving the bowl, workin on the simple feeling of locking in to the coping on basic axl stalls.

Today was a good one for the mind. In the peace and quiet of a desolate park I was able to contemplate the subtleties of skateing. I analyzed the ankle to knee to hip relationship. How these sections of your legs work together in different fashions for different trisks. It was also my goal to explore riding balanced. That is using both legs equally. That being said I rode switch alot. Not anything too fancy. Kickturns on the tranny, switch rockers, and floating the pyramids backwards. Very good for the mind. Also nice way to undo certain developed patterns. I think in a lot of way one can get stuck doing what their good at without exploring other means that would improve their overall game.

A bit of comedy. I figured I had the park all to myself. Little did I know that some mommy had brought several kids who decided to play tag/hide and seek in the park. which, is a very good idea. If I were that age that place would be perfect for a game as such. But anyway I was coasting past and hadto bail when they darted out from behind a wall chasing and screaming your it! Well they were both almost lunch meat. This avoidance of the kids was better than some backflips I have taken to avoid clobbering some snot nose in the flat not paying attention. I am so sacrificial sometimes. I should wipe em out! No, I should school their parents on teaching them proper skate park ettiquite. whatever, one time, many years ago, I layed this kid out flat. His father was standing right there and thought we wuz gonna have some words but he saw the whole thing and knew that his kid wasn't paying attention. That was cool, I hope I didn't give em a concussion. anyway, keep skatin y'all! I'll see you in the pool!

Roll to Reisterstown

A truly rippin day!

This is Bajeebas bringin you the fresh scoop on what the Defstick team is up to.

I first got my vittles on this morning took a huge crap and intended on just workin on some flat land behind the CVS. I dodged a few cars attempting to pick up prescriptions from the window and manualed about and attempted a few tre-flips. I soon realized that Everett was probably not coming for one reason or another. He probably thought to meet at his house. Anyway I had to bust up his video game session in order to commense rippitude. We gathered up the gear and with his ass hangin out the back of his jeans we prepared for Reisterstown.

Reisterstown has a nice little ramp farm out behind Hanna Moore. It's like a school for retards or something. Anyway the prize of that park(in my mind) is the miniramp. Although I like em a little bigger this one has nice tranny, mellow coping, and a sweet spine that leads into the street course. The Defstick team was a little distracted today, though. Tim was takin some youngin to prom. Awwww! I hope he doesn't get arrested! Lunchbox was off, God knows where, doin Satan knows what. But Ev and I still made the trip and I got the sundurn and bruises to prove it.

The locals were quickly impressed with Everett's talent and jaws dropped as he yanked some nice blunt to airwalk fakies! Booyaka! Huge boneless on the quarter pipe. Like five feet above the coping! I was feeling mellow and only putting on a show here and there. Laying down my nice surf style with some sick berts on the half pipe, smiths, and backside 5-0 to tail slide about a mile long. yea a full mile! As I was in the middle of the trick the ramp somehow morphed as the infinite vortex opened up.

The sun was beating down pretty crucial so Def require some shade. mellowing out Ev begins a quest for a cigarrete. He is quickly challenged to do a trick in exchange for a cigarrete. 360 boneless down a five set for a jack? Deal! Got it on the thired try. Soon enough Everett was smokin and jokin with the locals while I commensed to terrorize the park. When Everett got done his pollution solution he laid waste to half pipe. crankin out some huge kickflip to fakie! Cleanest I ever seen! launchin some fakie ollies which were quite floaty indeed. And sealing the deal with a feeble on the spine.

Even though the crew was trunkated today Defstick was still in full effect! Oh yea mother f@#kers! We'll be back! And we'll take no prisoners!

Def out!

Ripping Carroll & Bowie

The day started out with promise in the air. Not a hint of rain and I was up at the crack of dawn to prepare for our epic adventure. Of course when I called 'the crew' at a quarter to elleven, Tim, the eldest, answers the phone and says he must awake the chilluns. I hear a muffled, "get the f&%k up, Charlie's on the phone!" followed by, "Oh s#@t! gotta go skate!" And a half hour later we were rolling to our first destination, Carroll Park, in good ole pig town, south Baltimore.
With Slipknot in our ears we're piled in the Scion Xb, We got there early which was good to have the park all to ourselves for a moment. To ourselves meaning no other skaters, bikers, etc... Still had to dodge the occasional vagrant an/or crackhead. Lines were goin nice considering I hadn't rolled carroll in months. I was able to pick out the one good 'line' that park has to offer despite a mudpuddle at the bottom of the drop where I carve the foot wide section of quater pipe that looms over a narrow pyramid. There would be more flow to the parks had they not installed so many quirky features. That is what makes the park simultaneously rad and suck. It is rad because you have to be creative and it sucks because nothing seems to come naturally there, except the spine, for me.
So the boys were goin off! Everett, of course, was boosting big airs over anything and everything that stood in his way. Lunchbox started off gentle and wound up stealing the show at the end of the day. Tim was jamming to his ipod, smoking cigarrettes, poppin some bigspins, and muttering to himself about a potential deal with Circa shoes. It was cool when the locals showed up. First was a biker whom Ev immediately befriended. Dude was floating some nice s*%t for shure. What is cool about that is the lack of animosity. No haters in this crew. Everyone's just rollin and havin a good time. All the locals were stoked to see us rippin. Everett managed to pull a 360 melon over an oil drum out of the quarter pipe. As I said previously Lunchbox stole the show, getting his money's worth, landing a tricky boardslide up a slanted ledge next to a steep bank, as well as getting the highest ollies of the day. I had my fun on the spine, lockin in some grinds, boardslide, smith, floaty, switch, pivot, etc... With one gnarly slam as I hung let my hip taste some concrete. It ain't no mini-ramp. That f%$ker is solid. We left before Tim tried anything big on the ten set, which might have required a medic.
We jet back to Lansdowne, where Everett has to get his Zoloft prescription filled. Meanwhile Rob, Tim, and I go and have a jam session at my house. Me on the drums mostly, flute, banjo, etc... Rob playing some mean riffs with some nice distortion. Tim makin his guitar sound like a bass. We had intended to follow this with a trip to Green Skate Lab. The plan was disheveled when Ev decides he needs to watch a pack of girls play with sticks and balls. Nothing like girls catching balls and fondling sticks. Hope his girlfriend won her lacross game!
Tim was stoked on rippin a pool and continued suggesting Greenbelt. All his descriptions of the place seemed to involve intestines in one way or another. "That pool will leave your small intestine in the shallow end!" "Hold on to your effin spleen!" It will blow your mind while you s#%t your pants. Sounds good to me! Rob wasn't havin it though. Aside from him being just tired in general he wasn't too stoked on a pool and wanted something with more of a street course. Of course I could give or take a street course. Gimme a pool and I am happy. We reached an agreement and decided on BOWIE! Something for everyone! One of the gnarliest pools around for me. And an ample street course for the lunchbox.
I still insist that even though some pool are bigger none I have skated is as gnarly as Bowie. real quick tranny, nice whippin pockets, and a clam shell to seal the deal! I was able to find a dizzying amount of lines and I wet myself consecutively at the sound of grinding that thing. Grinds there are the nastiest! Its a cross between the sound bones splintering and sharpening a sword on flint. Nasty! Rob got his by flippin some tricks on the pyramid and a nice boardslide on the hand rail. Tim tried his hand at a boneless over a sick gap. We all had fun talking to Tim's old friend Shamaia, who was seriously trying to get into Rob's pants after a little vodka. Too bad Everett didn't get to slice up that pool. Next time buddy!
